Sometimes it is good to remind ourselves about the obvious…
“9 pregnant women CAN NOT ‘deliver’ one baby in 1 month.”

To understand the metaphor imagine:

  • Pregnant Woman = Developer = Cost
  • Months = Iterations = Time
  • Baby = Scope

      1 Pregnant woman 8 months into her pregnancy (TW Dev) can delivery 1 (or maybe even two) babies in 1 months ;0)

      You could also say the same about 9 fathers! ;)

      I’ve often used the example of a co-pilot. He doesn’t make the plane reach it’s destination any faster, but he increases the chances that you’ll actually get there.

      And then there was the manager whose wife had twin. He bragged that she delivered twice the planned scope in the same project time-frame.
